PresenterPhotoDr. Marc A. Lo is the Inaugural Executive Director of Penn First Plus, the University of Pennsylvania’s initiative to reimagine itself and become more inclusive of its increasing socioeconomic diversity.

Under his leadership, Penn First Plus aims to shift how faculty and staff teach, advise, and mentor students who may be the first in their families to pursue a bachelor’s degree or come from modest financial means. Marc was the first person in his family to complete his bachelor’s degree, receiving Pell Grant support while working multiple jobs at Northeastern University as an undergraduate. As a scholar, Marc holds degrees in Organizational Communication, and Higher Education from Northeastern University and New York University, respectively. His scholarly work and presentations explore questions of campus climate for diversity, inclusive pedagogy and co-curricular, and interrogating the notions of socioeconomic status in higher education.
