New Considerations to Incorporate Problem Solving, Intervention, Community Building & Crisis Response

Your residence life student staff are the first responders in your residence halls – often making split-second decisions that could change the course of their residents’ lives, safety and the well-being of the community. With the impact of COVID continuing to echo through campuses – impacting every aspect of operations – the preparation and skills gap of student leaders such as residence life student staff remains a concern for many administrators.

Intentional and transformational training that incorporates specific skill-building including problem-solving strategies, de-escalation techniques, community building, change management, mental health, equity and inclusion, and self-care equips your res life staff with the skills they need to succeed confidently and effectively when interacting with their residents, team members, campus police, and other campus partners.

Join us on Thursday, May 24, 2022, when our expert presenter will offer a new framework to guide resident assistant training, including specific strategies for responding to emergency situations; skills to assist them with problem-solving; and essential training topics to increase their confidence, skill, and comfort level.

Topics Covered

As a result of this webinar, you will be able to:

  • Receive a new framework to train resident assistants to respond to crisis or emergency situations – encompass new strategies and additional training topics that increase the confidence, skill, and comfort level of your resident assistants.
  • Address disconnects and skills gaps – ensure your training meets your resident assistants where they are at, fills in the gaps for loss of experience as a result of the pandemic, and sets up your department for a successful year.
  • Equip your resident assistants with the critical skills they need – create an impactful training program that prepares your resident assistants to effectively assist in the engagement and retention of students on campus.
  • Create a safe and meaningful residential environment – empower your staff to create a community that allows for residents to feel a sense of mattering and belonging so that your halls stay full, minimize roommate conflicts, and property damages are reduced.
  • Retain your staff for multiple years and reduce turnover – ensure your training exceeds their expectations and supports the mission of your institution.
