PresenterPhotoAlecea Ritter Standlee is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Gettysburg College and specializes in technology, gender, social theory, and social inequality with an emphasis on first-generation college students.

With over a decade of experience teaching in higher education, Prof. Alecea Ritter Standlee is dedicated to providing students with the tools to be successful, wherever their “classrooms” may be. In that time, she has taught both asynchronous and synchronous online classes, utilizing a variety of Learning Management Systems (LMS) including Moodle, Blackboard, and Angel. Additionally, Standlee served as an Online Course Development Specialist for SUNY Empire State College. The master online courses that she designed were used by all sections of those classes.

With her online teaching expertise, Prof. Standlee played a key role in helping her institution to transition to distance learning during COVID-19 lockdowns, while gaining valuable experience using Zoom to teach online.
