PresenterPhotoAlejandro Magaña is currently the Associate Director of Multicultural Student Affairs at Northwestern University.

Originally from the southwest side of Chicago, now residing in the northwest suburbs with his wife and son. Alejandro is a first-generation, proud TRIO alumnus of DePaul University where he received his bachelor’s degree in History and American Studies and Master of Science in Public Service.

He has focused his 15-year higher education career to cultivating a welcoming and inclusive environment for Black, Indigenous, Student of Color (BIPOC). In his current role, he works in support of students at Northwestern that identify as BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+, and/or undocumented. Additionally, he coordinates programming, initiatives and outreach to students that identify as Latinx/a/o. He consults in diversity and inclusion. He also enjoys playing soccer, gardening, and learning new skills like sewing and woodworking; and is currently navigating the e-learning environment with his seven-year-old son.
