Presenter Bio - Amber Ulmer
Amber Ulmer is the Senior Associate Director of Residence Life at the University of California-Berkeley.
Amber [they/them] has spent 20+ years supporting Residential Living on seven campuses ranging from small private colleges, mid-sized residential operations, and for the past 12 years at the University of California Berkeley supporting over 10,000 residents. Amber is a strategic analytical thinker with a special interest in how teams come together with a collectivist mindset within the capitalist structures of our society and work world. As a white person leading a department, identity conscious supervision and working to address Anti-Blackness are critical understandings and skills needed to envision how to reshape the landscape of our approach to work.
Amber is a Gallup certified Strengths Coach and works with organizations to have a common language and understanding of the individual beauty and genius people bring to their work in order to help form better teams and increase satisfaction at work. Amber is often referred to as someone who is innovative and creative when approaching their role and is human-centered in their approach to relationship building. Amber lives in the beautiful Bay Area and is an avid reader of YA fiction and a wide genre of nonfiction topics.
