Presenter Bio - Barry A. Schreier
Barry A. Schreier, Ph.D. is a licensed Counseling Psychologist. He is the Director of The University of Iowa Counseling Service and is a Professor of Counseling Psychology in the Iowa College of Education. Dr. Schreier is also the founder and senior consultant for Bridge Partners Consultation, which provides professional consultation on issues and concerns related to the GLBTQ+ communities.
Prior to his current position at The University of Iowa, Barry was the Director of the Counseling Center at the University of Connecticut and he spent a year with Princeton University’s Counseling Center. Dr. Schreier has numerous publications on a variety of topics including sexual orientation and trans/non-binary identities; training and education in psychology; managing student distress; campus suicide prevention; campus outreach and programming; and was an editor for the book: The Handbook of Multicultural Counseling Competency. Barry is married to his husband Tom with whom he has celebrated 29 years together! Barry’s pronouns are he/him/his.
