Brian M. Montalvo, M.S., Ed.S., NCC, CCC currently serves as the Assistant Vice President of Florida Atlantic University’s Career Center.

He has worked in higher education since 2000. He joined the national award-winning Career Center at Florida Atlantic University in July 2006 and is currently the Assistant Vice President (AVP).

As the AVP, Brian oversees career services at Florida Atlantic University and is recognized for his outstanding leadership skills and forward thinking. He leverages his background, experience, and leadership skills to engage with employers, the community, faculty, and staff to support students and alums in building a successful future.

Brian is actively committed to the career development profession. Active with the National Career Development Association (NCDA), he was honored with a selection into NCDA’s Leadership Academy. Additionally, he served on the Board of Directors for NCDA as a Trustee for Higher Education Career Coaches and Specialists. NCDA recognized him as the National Practitioner of the Year in 2021.

Since 2021, Brian has held a board position with the Soref JCC in Plantation. In 2020, South Florida Business and Wealth recognized him as an Up and Comer 40 under 40 in education.

In addition to leading career services, Brian has taught career development and career counseling theory courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. He has published national and international articles, essays, and a book chapter on multiple career development topics. Brian is a regular speaker and consultant on embedding career programs into the onboarding process and effective cross-functional collaboration.

He earned an Ed.S. in Counseling and Human Systems, an M.S. in Counseling & Human Systems, and a B.S. in Psychology, all from Florida State University. Brian is a National Certified Counselor (#214457) and a Certified Career Counselor (CA-9051492737).
