Presenter Bio - Dr. Cié Gee
Dr. Cié Gee currently serves at the Associate Vice Provost of Career Engaged Learning at the University of Texas San Antonio and author of The Door Holder. The Art of Leadership Navigation: Transforming Challenges into Opportunities.
Cié is a torchbearer for innovative approaches in higher ed leadership development. Her specific topics of interest are interpersonal/intrapersonal communication, developing self confidence in oneself and others, and authentic leadership. She currently serves as the Associate Vice Provost of Career Engaged Learning, Director of the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), and clinical faculty member at The University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA). With over 18 years of experience in various facets of higher education, she has held key roles in Enrollment Management, Strategic Planning and Assessment, Admissions, and Registrar offices. She also led a faculty and staff executive leadership development program for 10 years.
As the Associate Vice Provost of Career Engaged Learning, Cié oversees multiple departments, including the University Career Center, Undergraduate Research, Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Institute for Law and Public Affairs, Health Professions, Center for Community and Civic Engagement, and the Harvey Najim Center for Innovation and Career Advancement. She has held leadership roles in various professional organizations related to her field.
She just completed her first book, The Door Holder. The Art of Leadership Navigation: Transforming Challenges into Opportunities. Through real-life examples and practical advice straight from a leader who has succeeded and failed forward, this book aims to guide the reader on a journey of personal and professional development, transforming into a leader who not only achieves goals but also holds the door open for others to succeed.
Never forgetting where she came from, Cié started out in rural Texas, growing up in a small farming and ranching community. Before entering higher education, she was a middle and high school English/theater teacher and an actress at a local theater company.
Her education includes a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Interpersonal Communication and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. Her dissertation focused on the journey to leadership for senior level women in higher education. She is a frequent contributor to publications and is an award-winning presenter.
