Presenter Bio - Dr. J. Cody Nielson

Dr. J. Cody Nielsen is Executive Director of Convergence Strategies and Director of the Center for Spirituality and Social Justice at Dickinson College. 

A graduate of Iowa State University’s Higher Education Doctoral program, Dr. Nielsen is a higher education DEI specialist who is addressing issues of religious, secular, and spiritual identities at the intersections of gender, race, and sexuality, and colonialism on campus.  For more than 15 years, Dr. Nielsen has served higher education institutions and addressed systemic and structural inequalities on campus.  His 2013-2015 research study in which he evaluated more than 150 colleges and universities across the United States and Canada revealed significant institutional policy and practice concerns related to religious, secular, and spiritual identities.  He now works with institutions as a DEI consultant and expert, addressing many areas of identity-based need.
