Presenter Bio - Dr. Mary Dixson
Dr. Mary Dixson is currently a Professor Instruction in Communication at The University of Texas at San Antonio.
She has 30 years of teaching experience and fifteen years of higher education administration experience including faculty development, distance learning, applied research, SACS accreditation, service learning, and dual credit programs. She also serves as a training consultant for Professional and Continuing Education on topics around conflict management, teamwork, organizational communication, and presentation skills.
Dixson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech and Philosophy from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, a Master of Arts in Speech Communication from Texas A&M University, College Station, and a Ph.D. in Communication Studies from the University of Texas, Austin.
As a mother to a college sophomore and a high school senior, she is a passionate advocate and speaker on issues around universal design and engaged learning experiences for all students. She runs a webpage devoted to providing resources for students with ADHD and learning disabilities.
