Dr. Peter Forkner is a psychologist, founder, and consultant with over 20 years of experience in college mental health and is now focused on the intersection of artificial intelligence and mental health. Dr. Forkner advises startups developing tools for therapy training, student support, and digital mental health services.

He recently stepped down as the Director of University Counseling Services where he led campus-wide efforts to strengthen student resilience, support clinician development, and promote mental well-being. In his new role, he provides clinical insight, ethical guidance, and product strategy to ensure these tools are grounded in real-world practice and aligned with the needs of students and institutions.

He is the founder of Therapy TrAIner, an AI-powered simulation platform that allows clinicians to practice high-stakes scenarios such as suicide risk assessments and crisis interventions through realistic interactions and structured feedback.

Dr. Forkner also co-leads Forkner & Landa Consulting, helping colleges and organizations apply evidence-based strategies to improve leadership, resilience, and well-being. His work bridges traditional clinical education with emerging digital tools to help institution prepare for the evolving role of AI in supporting college mental health.
