Presenter Bio - Dr. Sean P. Killion
Dr. Sean P. Killion serves as the Senior Director for Housing Administration at Temple University overseeing the Temple University’s Housing Operations, Information Technology, and Marketing and Branding for the University Housing department. Dr. Killion has served the Mid-Atlantic Association of College and University Housing Officers (MACUHO) for over 19 years and currently serves as the Past-President for the Association.
In addition to annual processes such as the Fall Housing Selection Process and annual Fall Move-in Process, Dr. Killion also works in developing systems and procedures for managing UHRL-IT and Star Rez and works with a team of student workers in developing departmental and divisional marketing communication and social media efforts. From 2003 to 2007, Dr. Killion served as the Associate Director for the Administrative Services unit at La Salle University. From 1998 through 2003, Dr. Killion worked in the marketing and advertising business, serving as the Director for Sales and Marketing for the Learning Studio Inc. and an Account Executive/Media Planner for Signature Communications, Inc. an advertising agency in Philadelphia, PA.
Dr. Killion is an active regional and national volunteer within the University Housing and Residential Life profession. Dr. Killion has served the Mid-Atlantic Association of College and University Housing Officers (MACUHO) for over 19 years and currently serves as the Past-President for the Association, having served as President-Elect in 2009-2010 and as President from 2010-2011. Dr. Killion has served on numerous annual conference Host Committees and helped to create the Housing and Facilities Operations Committee, serving as its Chairman from 2005-2009. Additionally, Dr. Killion, helped to re-design the MACUHO association’s new logo and branding including the development of the MACUHO Magazine. Dr. Killion was awarded the James Hurd Outstanding Service Award in October, 2009, the David G. Butler Distinguished Service Award in November, 2013, and the Joanne Goldwater Distinguished Senior Level Professional Award in October 2021 for his dedicated service over many years of service to MACUHO.
Dr. Killion is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Design, Engineering, and Commerce at Jefferson University and the Fox School of Business at Temple University. In addition to teaching, Dr. Killion has served as a national facilitator of leadership workshops for the Sigma Nu International Fraternity Inc. facilitating workshops and leadership training programs for student leaders across the country. Dr. Killion was recognized by the Sigma Nu Fraternity in 1998 as the 1998 Sigma Nu Man-of-the-Year and inducted into Sigma Nu’s Alpha Chapter at the Virginia Military Institute, the highest honor bestowed to an undergraduate brother. As an Alumnus, Dr. Killion has been recognized for his outstanding leadership and dedication to the fraternity in his role as Division Commander for local Philadelphia chapters, Alumni Engagement, and regional programs. In 2002 and 2007, Dr. Killion was recognized as the Division Commander of the Year and in 2008 he was recognized as the 2008 Alumnus-of-the-Biennium for his work with collegiate and Alumni leaders.
Last but certainly not least for over two decades, Dr. Killion has served his local community and remained actively involved at his Alma Mater, Archbishop Ryan High School. Since 2003, Dr. Killion has volunteered with the Alumni Association and supported annual fundraising events for the school. In 2013, he supported the founding of the Friends of Archbishop Ryan High School (FARHS) 501 (c)(3) charitable organization which later become the official Alumni Association for the school. Dr. Killion served the organization as Vice President (2013-2015) and President (2015-2017) and supported the development of annual fundraising programs, the Alumni Magazine, annual Career Day program, and the Spirit of Ryan Program. In 2018 Dr. Killion was recognized with the Spirit of Ryan Award and served as the event Chairman from 2019-2021.
Dr. Killion has been serving as a member of the Board of Directors for the school since 2020 and is currently serving as Secretary to the Board. Dr. Killion serves as the Chairman of the Enrollment Management Committee and has worked with the President and Chairman of the Board on the development of the school’s Strategic Plan: Foundations of Excellence.
