PresenterPhotoGeorge William Whitfield is currently a CARE Manager at Cleveland State University. He has facilitated program, workshops, and presentations at regional, national conferences and consults with various nonprofit organizations, colleges and universities around retention, Black Lives Matter Movement, marginalized groups, and the needs for men of color.

In this role, he provides comprehensive case management for students experiencing various levels of crisis and concern, including but not limited to academic, personal, financial, mental and physical health, and family issues.  He serves as part of the University’s Community Assessment Response and Evaluation Team.  George is also the pastor of Wesley Temple A.M.E. Zion Church, which is Akron Ohio’s oldest African American Church.

He holds a Bachelor of Social Work with a concentration in Child Welfare from Cleveland State University, a Master of Divinity in Ministerial Leadership with a concentration in Africana and African American Religion.  He has a certificate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from Cleveland State University.  He is currently working on a master’s degree in Education at Cleveland State University, focusing on Adult, Professional and Higher Education.  George is a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and he loves serving the community, traveling the world, and mentoring the next generation of leaders.
