Presenter Bio - Jackie Mayfield
Jackalynn (Jackie) Mayfield currently serves at the Assistant Director for Recruitment & Development for Residential Education at the University of Denver Housing.
Jackalynn grew up in Southwest Missouri and obtained her bachelor’s in marketing with a legal studies minor at the University of Central Missouri. While studying there, Jackalynn worked in Housing for two years, the Elliot Student Union for three years, and Admissions for one year. From there, she obtained her master's in college student personnel at Southern Illinois University Carbondale while working in Housing as a Graduate Assistant for two years. In the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Jackalynn worked as a Resident Director at Boise State University for a year and a half.
After her time at Boise State, she moved to Denver to work as a Resident Director at the University of Denver. She served in that role for two and a half years before being promoted to the Assistant Director for Recruitment & Development.
Jackalynn is passionate about accessibility. As a neurodivergent person, it is important for her to consider physical, mental, learning, and emotional abilities in how she approaches her work. She is dedicated to inclusion, equity, and social justice. She had the privilege of being highly involved in GLACUHO in her graduate work, serving on the Inclusion & Equity committee, presenting research, and planning the annual affinity social. She won the “Best of AIMHO” presentation in November of 2021 with her presentation titled “Let’s Talk About Fat, Baby!” Outside of work, she loves theatre, drag performances, cooking, and her cat, Juniper.
