Presenter Bio - Lisa Chandler
Lisa Chandler is currently the Assistant Director at the Adult Learner & Veteran Services (ALVS) Office at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado.
In her current role, she has helped transform ALVS into one of the top military-friendly programs in the nation by helping to establish a variety of transitional programs such as a ALVS specific orientation, summer bridge program called ELEVATE, community meet-ups, and Ram Welcome programming. She assisted in the development of academic year programming to include a peer advisor program, tutoring program, and comprehensive student-parent programming to name a few.
She has presented several times at the NAPSA Symposium on Military-Connected Students on topics such as “Combating ‘Ism’s’ in Your University Veteran”, “Implementing the Value-Add Model in Your Veteran Center”, and “The First Year: Fostering Community & Engagement Through Transitional Programs”. Lisa has also presented nationally as part of the Veterans Affairs (VA) VITAL Webinar series in 2021 on ‘Fostering A Military Friendly Campus’.
She has two children in middle school and is a military spouse to a now retired Marine.
She has her Masters in Social Work and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker; in this role she provided individual, couples, and group therapy. Prior to joining ALVS, she worked for many years with families and children impacted by sexual assault and domestic violence.
