Megan Vogel currently serves as the Chief of Staff at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. In this role she oversees the onboarding process for all new staff within the Division of Student Affairs. With over 15 years in this role, Megan has continually refined the onboarding process to address the evolving needs of today’s professionals and to support the Division’s mission of meeting the diverse needs of today’s students.

Megan began her professional career in corporate marketing, communications, and events, where she developed her skills and expertise until 2009. That year, she made a significant career shift, transitioning into higher education and joining the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs at Ohio University. Since her arrival in September 2009, Megan has adeptly navigated through eight different vice-presidential transitions, demonstrating remarkable adaptability and leadership.

Initially hired as the office administrator, Megan’s exceptional organizational skills and proactive approach quickly earned her a series of promotions. Her responsibilities have been extensive and varied, encompassing everything from scheduling and travel coordination to general office management. She has also been responsible for overseeing the Division’s budget of over $100 million and managing human resources for more than 400 professional staff members. In addition to these tasks, Megan has been responsible for marketing and communications, technology, student health insurance, and spearheading special projects as identified by the University’s executive leadership.

One of Megan’s notable contributions was her involvement in the development of a student leadership endorsement program. This initiative was designed to formally recognize and award credentials for student leadership achievements at Ohio University, reflecting her commitment to enhancing student development and engagement. Her service extends beyond her immediate role, having participated in numerous University wide committees, where she has provided valuable insights and support.

In her current role as Chief of Staff, Megan oversees the onboarding process for all new staff within the Division of Student Affairs. Her extensive background in the corporate sector gives her a unique perspective on the complexities involved in integrating new staff into a college environment. With over 15 years in this role, Megan has continually refined the onboarding process to address the evolving needs of today’s professionals and to support the Division’s mission of meeting the diverse needs of today’s students.

Megan is a proud fourth-generation Ohio University Bobcat, having earned both her Master of Arts in Organizational Communication and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the institution. Beyond her professional responsibilities, she is deeply engaged in her community, serving as Secretary on the Athens County Child Advocacy Board and as Grants Chair for the Child Conservation League. Megan has also held various leadership roles on the local high school athletic board. She is a devoted wife and mother to two children, Christian (20) and Chase (17).
