Ricky LaFosse, JD, PhD, is a licensed attorney and is currently serving as the Associate Director for Compliance and Policy at the University of Michigan’s (U-M) Center for Academic Innovation.

In this role he provides compliance guidance and supports policymaking efforts relating to online degree programs, open learning experiences, interstate and international education, and educational technologies. His responsibilities include creating policies, procedures, and compliance resources while supporting continued innovation in a highly complex regulatory environment, including through advocacy work. Ricky also supports broader online learning policy, advocacy, and compliance efforts as UPCEA’s Senior Policy Fellow. Prior to his role at U-M, Ricky was a compliance consultant for the Office of Online Education at Indiana University.
