Presenter Bio - Dr. Sharon Mitchell
Dr. Sharon Mitchell is the Senior Director of Student Wellness and Director of Counseling Services at the University at Buffalo.
Dr. Mitchell received a doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology from The Ohio State University. She has worked as a counseling center administrator, staff psychologist and faculty in higher education institutions. Dr. Mitchell’s professional interests include college counseling center administration, counselor supervision and training, group therapy, multicultural issues, and women’s issues. She has presented nationally and internationally and has published research on emerging adulthood, group counseling, racial identity development, interpersonal violence, eating disorders, suicide prevention, international college students and college counseling center organizational structures. She has served on the editorial board of the Journal of College Student Psychotherapy and the Journal of College Student Development. She is a past President of the Delaware Board of Examiners of Psychologists, served as the directorate for the Commission for Counseling and Psychological Services in the American College Personnel Association and is a Fellow, American Psychological Association (Society of Counseling Psychology).
