Better Understand Needs To Increase Engagement, Satisfaction & Retention
College students, in general, face unique challenges as they transition and matriculate through the higher education system. Autistic college students however face challenges that may often be overlooked or, at times, be “hidden” from those with minimal knowledge of Autism. Autistic college students report higher levels of depression, difficulty adjusting to life on campus, and anxiety than their neurotypical peers. Many Autistic students have reported feeling “misunderstood” by faculty and staff. Those who have experience attending a neuro-affirming campus have reported great ease of adjustment to the college setting with reduced levels of anxiety and depression.
Join our expert presenter on February 27, 2025 when he will help you better understand Level 1 Autism, sensory sensitivities and misconceptions about autistic college students, and neuro-affirming practices that decrease anxiety and fear.
Properly interpret behaviors, cues, and verbal and nonverbal communication as it relates to the mental health profile of a college student on the spectrum, so you can better help support and advocate for Autistic students on your campus. Increase their engagement, satisfaction and retention overall.
