Identify Early Warning Signs to Intervene & Support Students in Distress

Train your key campus stakeholders to recognize students in or at risk of experiencing a crisis. Create a collaborative approach by ensuring critical training is in place to increase the effectiveness of faculty, student affairs professionals, coaches, and others to recognize common crisis reaction clues and warning signs, effective de-escalation techniques for mild, moderate and severe distress situations.

Gather your colleagues from across campus to join us on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, as the Assistant Director, overseeing the Behavioral Services Division of the University of Florida’s Police Department, discusses the evolving mental health profile of today’s students based on the most recent data, the physiological reactions to crises and implications for crisis intervention, and how it correlates to their academic and social success at your institution.

Explore crisis reaction clues and warning signs, basic de-escalation techniques, and essential resources available so you can help your students cope and successfully transition through their college experience.

Don’t miss this opportunity to ensure your faculty, staff, coaches and students have the necessary training and tools to increase their awareness and ability to de-escalate students who may be in the early stages of a crisis before it spirals out of control.
