Funding challenges are significant for many student services divisions, across all sectors of higher education. While grants are often seen as a potential source of new money, few higher education professionals have the expertise or knowledge to find, apply for, and manage the grants that might supplement their otherwise more limited operational budgets. Grant funding holds great promise, but student services practitioners may feel they are ill-suited or unprepared to become grant developers and managers and may face insecurity in seeking such funding.

Dr. Karen Archambault currently serves as the Senior Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Success at Rowan College at Burlington County. She has served as the lead author on multiple grants including successful grants from the state of New Jersey, the US Department of Education, Lockheed Martin, Investors Bank and Swipe Out Hunger among others.
