When a Title IX case involves a student with a disability, institutions must navigate two complex legal frameworks while ensuring the student has meaningful access to education. Supportive measures and academic accommodations can quickly become challenging when Title IX requirements intersect with ADA and Section 504 obligations. The challenge is often determining which law applies, whether both apply, which office should take the lead, and how responsibilities should be coordinated across Title IX, ADA, disability services, human resources, and other campus partners.
