Some institutions are looking to improve campus spaces so they prioritize student success, engagement, belonging and well-being. For instance, New York University offers a low-sensory room in the library to help relax students with acute sensory needs. Hampton University (VA) and Alabama State University have She Care Wellness Pods to offer culturally competent mental health services for women.
The University of Dayton (OH) added a Story Studio podcast studio to their multimedia production space to help students learn digital production skills. Virginia Tech added a Brain Gym as part of their new Innovation Campus to help in “resetting after hard events at work,” the space designer said.
