The University of Oklahoma’s President’s Leadership Class (PLC) was developed 64 years ago to encourage outstanding state high school students to remain in Oklahoma during their college years. Now, the PLC attracts students from throughout the U.S. as a top freshman leadership program, guiding members to success, empowering them to impact the campus and community, and connecting them with alumni in leadership positions.

According to their website, over 12,000 students apply for the 125 PLC positions. Those chosen have an opportunity “to interact with many of the campus’ and state’s most influential and creative individuals.”

Special PLC study abroad programs are available. And over 10 years ago, the PLC began partnering with a local nonprofit called Loveworks Leadership that helps middle school students reach their full potential. This happens through afterschool, entrepreneurship and other programs for the students. And PLC students plan an hour-long leadership presentation for the Loveworks students based on various leadership “habitudes.”
