New Title IX Considerations & Legal Implications
Universities recognize the need for a clear path forward on developing reasonable policies and procedures as mandated by the new Title IX regulations for both pregnant and parenting students, but there is still much confusion as to how. The new mandates give very broad protections without clarity leaving institutions and practitioners uncertain about how to meet the needs of their pregnant and parenting community members while ensuring compliance. Legal challenges to the guidance and court ordered injunctions further exacerbate the frustration and confusion.
Our expert presenters will summarize the previous and current Title IX guidance, review pending legal challenges to the new guidance, provide OCR guidelines for practitioners to build an equitable practice, and discuss what does and does not constitute a reasonable accommodation.
