A bright blue upright piano bedecked with colorful metal flowers and other art pieces is building community at North Carolina State University. It’s an oldie at over 100 years old and was found for free on Craigslist. Now the piano is housed under a tent on the Oval on Centennial Campus, played and maintained by an online community of students, including student Andrew Farkas who said, “this piano is the best thing NC State has ever done for my mental health.”

The blue piano, which was brought to life with the help of several faculty and staff members, adds vibrancy to the campus space. Farkas said he’s made friends through the piano community. “It’s really great how everyone brings different music to the piano,” he stated.
