Cornell University’s annual Soup & Hope speaker series features student, faculty and staff storytellers sharing their experiences overcoming life’s challenges during six noontime sessions January through March. This spotlight on stories of hope is open to the public and attendees enjoy free soup and bread each time. Sessions are presented live while also being available via Zoom with recorded links shared after the fact, too.

In 2025, storytellers include a doctoral student discussing how his disability has impacted his educational career and the various strategies and supports he has used. The Fair Practice Employment Specialist for Cornell’s Office of Human Resources speaks from his perspective as a purpose-driven professional and returning citizen. The Associate Dean for Student Empowerment and Director of First-Generation and Low-Income Student Support speaks from her experiences as a first-generation, low-income college student who immigrated from Haiti.
