When a campus kitchen fire occurred at North Dakota’s University of Jamestown (UJ) earlier this month, faculty and staff worked tirelessly with food service provider Sodexo to make sure students were fed. Then, the president of Northwest College (WY) – over 1,200 miles away – reached out to offer that institution’s mobile kitchen equipment as part of the solution. “When I heard about the fire, I felt called to help,” said President Lisa Watson. Staff from Northwest College drove two installations of equipment to North Dakota to help their UJ colleagues.
“It’s just amazing that they would drive thousands of miles to Jamestown, stay on campus for five minutes to unhook, and head back,” Dustin Jensen, vice president for student affairs and dean of students at UJ, told NewsDakota.com. “It’s inspiring to see people dive in and do what they can to help. There have been so many people doing so many good things.”
