During Pirates Aboard! Admitted Students Day at East Carolina University (ECU), students and their families are encouraged to discover “hidden treasures” in addition to typical campus tour sights. For instance, PeeDee’s Hidden Coin Challenge has visitors looking for four tiny coins on the Student Center floor, each featuring a unique version of mascot PeeDee the Pirate.
ECU’s Tree Trail is another hidden treasure with 45 tree species along a 1.5-mile circular route. Included is a Loblolly Pine that has been part of ECU’s history for over one hundred years.
“ECU is full of hidden treasures waiting to be discovered,” according to ECU’s Undergraduate Admissions website. “So, grab your map and your sense of adventure to explore some of ARRRGH campus’ best-kept secrets!”
