Just in time for the holidays, Lackawana College’s (PA) culinary and hospitality students are turning the institution’s student-run restaurant into a pop-up experience called Misfits (think the Land of Misfit toys). An old boarding house in the middle of the city has been turned into a space full of disco balls, lights and “a group of misfits who celebrate the holidays in a whole new way.” Holiday-themed drinks and treats round out the offerings.

The Misfits hospitality space is called 409 on Adams, in the middle of Scranton, Pennsylvania. Year-round, “Under the observation of chef instructors, students prepare modern and classical menus, manage inventory, create beverage menus, hire staff and create exceptional guest experiences,” explains their site. “Each dining experience promises new, bold cuisines and styles along with a selection of beer, wine and specially crafted cocktail selections to pair with creative menus.”
