At the University of California, Santa Cruz, a Campus Mobile Crisis Team (CMCT) is working to provide crisis response services to all members of the UCSC community. The team is an extension of the institution’s Counseling and Psychological Services, created “to support students’ diverse needs through innovative and culturally competent responses to campus behavioral health crises.” The team operates between 2 pm and midnight, Wednesday through Saturday, arriving where called in a clearly marked van to respond, assess and use crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to address mental health and substance-related situations.

The team then explains options, offers recommendations and provides transportation, if needed, according to their site. “Our goal is to connect the individual to the service that is most appropriate to their needs,” they say.
