As the quality of students’ sleep continues to be an issue, more campuses are investing in Nap Pods. At Montclair State University (NJ), they used a grant to install pods in the library, recreation center and student center. Southern Connecticut State University offers the pods as a dedicated space for students to recharge and rejuvenate, part of a broader initiative to enhance the “built environment” on campus and enhance wellness through intelligent environmental design.
The Nap Pods at Montclair include a privacy visor, a built-in music player, guided relaxation, safe storage for personal belongings and a user-friendly interface. The pods are emblazoned with the campus name, too.
At Southern Connecticut, the Nap Pods are joined by Zen Dens, “serene areas equipped with manipulatives, sensory tools, and other items chosen by our Neurodivergent Club, providing quiet spaces for students to replenish, recharge, and take a much-needed brain break,” according to News at Southern.
