This April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The #DONTSTANDBY movement focuses on helping to stop sexual assault before it starts by providing friends, ride share drivers and the nightlife community with strategies to be part of the solution. “Preventing sexual assault starts with having each other’s back,” their site emphasizes.
Tips include keep watch, trust your gut, step in, call back up and check your ride, with further information on how to put each tip into action. The site also offers ways to get trained on bystander strategies, help if someone was sexually assaulted and spread the word using available downloadable posters (in both Spanish and English), static images, GIFs and a video.
