The George Washington University (DC) was named a Skin Smart Campus by The National Council on Skin Cancer Prevention, a designation that honors schools prioritizing skin cancer prevention by eliminating indoor tanning devices, promoting educational outreach and adopting policies to protect the campus community from harmful UV exposure.

The institution committed to keeping indoor tanning devices off campus and out of all affiliated buildings as part of their Skin Smart pledge. GW also developed a dedicated website to raise awareness.

In addition to the recognition, the university will also receive two free sunscreen dispensers and a year’s supply of sunscreen from The National Council on Skin Cancer Prevention, in partnership with IMPACT Melanoma, reported NewsWise at GW.
