The Penn State World Campus, in recognizing that online learners need student success resources, opened their new virtual Chaiken Center for Student Success this week. It brings together all student-facing and academic support services to guide and connect World Campus’ 19,000 online learners with resources from academic advising to disability support, academic development services and more.

“Online learners often juggle multiple responsibilities, from work and family commitments to financial pressures,” said Dawn Coder, assistant vice provost for online student success, who will lead the center’s staff. “At the Penn State World Campus Chaiken Center for Student Success, we understand these unique challenges and are dedicated to providing the comprehensive support needed to help our students succeed. Our goal is to ensure that every student has the resources and guidance to overcome these obstacles and achieve their academic and professional goals."

An initial initiative of the center will expand on the existing Smart Track to Success scholarship program designed to help students with little or no college experience navigate their college experience. The 2025 focus will be on building students’ statistical skills.
