November 8 is National First-Generation College Student Day and many campuses are incorporating it into a full week of events. At the University of Arkansas, where approximately a quarter of students are first-generation, the Office of New Student & Family has partnered with a variety of offices and departments to offer supportive, celebratory events. They include a resource fair, plus wellness, cooking and scholarship workshops, and much more.
First-generation students are welcomed to drop in to the Honors College for a chat and snacks. There’s a Dreamscape collective nap experience, an entrepreneurship panel, lunch with the Chancellor, a First-Gen Celebration and more.
