At William Paterson University (NJ), the Office of Student Diversity & Inclusion provides information and opportunities regarding “transformative certificates and diversity training that prepare students for a diverse workforce.” Offerings include: Student Online Diversity Training, Brave Space LGBTQIA+ Training, LGBT Ally Training, Bystander Intervention Training and more.
Student Online Diversity Training. This module discusses “concepts such as inclusion, power, privilege, identities, and communication as well as strategies related to ally behavior, self-care, and creating inclusive spaces.” Students who complete the module satisfy the mandatory criteria of the Social Justice Leadership Badge Program.
Brave Space LGBTQIA+ Training. This interactive, in-person training “provides information and resources related to sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression.” Remote training is offered once per semester.
LGBT Ally Training: Tips and Application. This interactive, in-person experience covers “applicable strategies to support an individual who seeks support during their coming out process.”
Bystander Intervention Training. Participants are reminded that “Trauma manifests with each person differently.
